In the summer of 2020, a young man's life was tragically cut short on a street in Baltimore. Michael Montgomery, a 27-year-old male, was found on the evening of June 11, 2020, in the 3700 block of Gelston Avenue. He had been fatally shot. The incident was reported at approximately 8:52 p.m., and when authorities arrived, they found him at the scene of the shooting.
For nearly a year, the investigation into Montgomery's death continued.
Then, in May of 2021, the Baltimore Police Department announced a significant development in the case. After what was described as a lengthy investigation, detectives identified a suspect. On May 5, 2021, members of the Warrant Task Force located and apprehended 30-year-old Martinez Armstrong in the 4700 block of Mt. Hope Drive.
Following his arrest, Armstrong was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Michael Montgomery. The arrest brought a measure of progress in a case that had remained unresolved for almost a year, offering the possibility of justice for the untimely death of the young man.
