Paul Anderson, aged 44, was tragically murdered on December 21, 2017, in Odessa, Florida. Anderson was the President of the Cross Bayou Chapter of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. His death was the result of a violent feud between the Outlaws and the 69’ers Motorcycle Club. On the day of his murder, Anderson was followed for several miles down the Suncoast Parkway by members of the 69’ers Motorcycle Club.
The assailants, Christopher Brian Cosimano and Michael Dominick Mencher, along with three other co-defendants, stalked Anderson before pulling alongside his truck at a busy intersection and shooting him multiple times.
The investigation into Anderson's murder revealed that the 69’ers Motorcycle Club was involved in various criminal activities, including acts of violence and narcotics distribution. The feud between the two motorcycle clubs had been escalating, leading to this fatal confrontation. Cosimano and Mencher were later convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, and related firearms offenses. They were sentenced to life in federal prison.
The case was extensively investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Tampa Police Department, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Petersburg Police Department, and the State Attorney’s Office for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. The prosecution was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making communities safer.
The murder of Paul Anderson not only highlighted the violent rivalry between the motorcycle clubs but also brought attention to the broader issue of gang-related violence. The heavy law enforcement presence at Anderson's funeral underscored the ongoing tensions and the potential for further violence.
