Mitch McCoy Jr., a 26-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on January 6, 2018, in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred early in the morning at a home on Orton Street in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Officers responding to a 911 call at approximately 5:45 a.m. found McCoy with at least one gunshot wound in front of the house. He was immediately taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he was pronounced dead.
