Ervin Gerard Sims Jr., a 6-year-old African American boy from Marianna, Florida, tragically died on January 26, 2018, after being accidentally shot in the head by a family member. The incident occurred at their home in Marianna, located in Florida's Panhandle. The young boy was immediately air-lifted to Pensacola for treatment but succumbed to his injuries a few days later. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
