Marie D. Guth, a 29-year-old woman from Orlando, FL, was tragically killed on January 28, 2018. Her death was the result of a gunshot wound to the head, inflicted during a dispute involving her former boyfriend and another individual. The incident occurred after Felix Borbon, 21, known by the nickname "Ratchet," confronted Guth in an attempt to locate her friend, who owed him money.
When Guth was unable to contact her friend, Borbon shot her behind an old tire shop on Silver Star Road and subsequently burned the car they had used.
Guth's body was discovered on the side of the road, and she remained unidentified for about 24 hours until detectives released photos of her distinctive tattoos to the media. Her mother, who was in Illinois, recognized the tattoos and contacted the authorities, confirming Guth's identity. Guth's roommates also played a crucial role in the investigation, leading detectives to the suspect and the murder weapon, which was hidden under a couch in their home.
Felix Borbon was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, destruction of evidence, tampering with physical evidence, and third-degree grand theft. He had a prior criminal record, having spent two years in prison for child abuse and aggravated assault. Borbon's motive for the murder was linked to a money dispute with Guth's friend, and he confessed to his roommates that he had "messed up bad" after the shooting.
The investigation revealed that Guth was shot five to seven hours before she was found, and she succumbed to her injuries at Orlando Regional Medical Center. The case drew significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the involvement of multiple individuals in the events leading up to Guth's death.
