Christopher Brent "Chris" Hixon, aged 49, tragically lost his life on February 14, 2018, during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Hixon, a Navy veteran who served for 27 years, was the Athletic Director and Campus Security Monitor at the school. On that fateful day, he responded to the sound of gunfire in the 1200 building, confronting the shooter in an attempt to protect the students and staff.
