Otniel Alvarez, a 47-year-old resident of Lakeland, Florida, was fatally shot on April 27, 2018. The incident occurred around 2:24 p.m. at an apartment complex on Unitah Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they found Alvarez lying on the ground in front of his apartment building with a gunshot wound to the lower right side of his abdomen. Despite immediate life-saving measures and emergency surgery at Lakeland Regional Health, Alvarez was pronounced dead at 5:35 p.m.
