Joseph L. Hepburn, a 25-year-old resident of Orlando, Florida, tragically lost his life on June 6, 2018. Hepburn's body was discovered late that night, lying in the middle of Bentley Street, near North Tampa Avenue, after police responded to a shooting call. The initial investigation revealed that Hepburn had been shot following an altercation with two individuals, Willie James Eckford and Jahquon Davon Glover, both 18 years old at the time.
The suspects fled the scene but later turned themselves in to the authorities.
According to witness statements and police reports, Hepburn had picked up Eckford and Glover at a Best Western on West Colonial Drive. An argument ensued between the three men, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the struggle, Eckford allegedly shot Hepburn. Glover later informed detectives that Eckford had planned to rob and possibly kill Hepburn. Both suspects were charged with first-degree murder and carjacking with a firearm. Eckford faced an additional charge of first-degree murder with a firearm, while Glover was also charged with battery.
The case against Eckford and Glover proceeded through the legal system, with both suspects being held at the Orange County Jail without bond.
