On October 26, 2018, 18-year-old Brandon Hammett, a young white male from Ocala, Florida, was fatally shot near Saddlewood Elementary School. The incident occurred during a drug transaction that went tragically wrong. Hammett had arranged to meet several individuals to sell marijuana. Upon arrival, he was confronted by four people, including Luis Angel Ortega, who was 16 at the time.
