On July 31, 2019, 21-year-old Kiki Fantroy, a Black transgender woman, was fatally shot in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The incident occurred in the early morning hours near Southwest 222nd Street and 115th Court. Fantroy was returning home from a party with a group of friends when she was approached by a 17-year-old male who propositioned her for sex. After she declined, the situation escalated tragically.
