On August 25, 2019, Olga Alvarez, aged 61, was tragically killed in a horrific incident in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The perpetrator, Pablo Colon Jr., 35, allegedly shot and killed his wife Sandra Colon, 36, his mother-in-law Olga Alvarez, and one of his 3-year-old twin daughters before turning the gun on himself. The incident occurred in the family's home, which they had rented for six months. The surviving twin daughter was found unharmed in the house.
The tragedy unfolded when Alvarez made a frantic 911 call at approximately 8:28 p.m., screaming for help in Spanish. Unfortunately, she was unable to provide an address before the call was disconnected. It took the police about an hour to locate the emergency with the help of relatives and investigative measures. When the SWAT team entered the home, they discovered the bodies of Alvarez, Sandra Colon, and one of the twin daughters, along with Pablo Colon Jr., who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Pablo Colon Jr. believed his wife was cheating on him, which he cited as the motive for the murders. He reportedly called his cousin, Cesar De La Hoz, confessing to the killings and indicating his intention to commit suicide. Despite the confession, no note or other evidence was found to further explain his actions. The police have not found any prior incidents or calls for service involving the family during their time at the residence.
The surviving daughter was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released into the care of family members.
