Jarius J. Cook, a 21-year-old African American male from DeLand, Florida, tragically lost his life on March 19, 2020. His death was the result of a violent crime that shocked the local community. Jarius was found deceased in the driver's seat of a burning vehicle near Delaware and Beresford avenues in DeLand. The medical examiner determined that he had died from gunshot wounds to the neck and head, not from the fire itself.
