Dorianne Nahica Revol, an 18-year-old Black female, tragically lost her life on May 9, 2020, while working as a security guard in the Platina community near Boynton Beach, Florida. On the night of her death, Dorianne was on duty at the guard gate when she encountered Jones Phillipe, a 21-year-old man from Greenacres, who had previously threatened her life. According to reports, Dorianne was on the phone with her mother when Phillipe returned to the gatehouse.
Her mother heard a struggle followed by gunshots. When investigators arrived, they found Dorianne dead inside the guardhouse, just three days shy of her 19th birthday.
The investigation revealed that Phillipe had a confrontation with Dorianne earlier that night, during which he threatened to shoot her. Security footage showed Phillipe returning to the scene, grabbing Dorianne by the neck, and then retrieving an AR-15 from his car to shoot her multiple times before fleeing. Residents in the neighborhood reported hearing the gunshots and seeing a white vehicle with black stripes speeding away. The police were able to track Phillipe down using the license plate captured by the security cameras.
Jones Phillipe was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, armed burglary, and burglary with assault or battery in connection with Dorianne's death. He was held in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail. In August 2023, Phillipe accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 50 years in prison for second-degree murder and armed burglary. During his sentencing, Phillipe expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he regretted pulling the trigger and acknowledged the pain he caused to Dorianne's family and friends.
The case highlighted the dangers faced by security personnel and the impact of violent crime on communities. Dorianne's death was a devastating loss for her family, who remembered her as a dedicated and hardworking young woman. The legal proceedings brought some measure of justice, but the tragedy of her untimely death continues to resonate with those who knew her.
