Samuel Mayes, a 43-year-old African American man from Palatka, Florida, tragically lost his life on February 14, 2021. The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon when Palatka police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of North 11th Street. Upon arrival, officers found Samuel Mayes suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately transported to the Putnam Community Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
