Lyndon Dawson, a 23-year-old African American male from Monticello, Florida, tragically lost his life on August 23, 2021. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in the East Clark Avenue area of Monticello, where they discovered Lyndon Dawson and Jamien Davis, a 21-year-old African American male, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, both men succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The initial investigation revealed that Dawson and Davis had shot each other, leading to their deaths.
The investigation into the deaths of Lyndon Dawson and Jamien Davis involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the State Attorney's Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). A significant development in the case occurred when a 15-year-old suspect, Christian Venisee, was identified and arrested by U.S. Marshals in Tallahassee. Venisee was initially charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and shooting into an occupied building. However, further investigation, including video evidence and ballistics reports, indicated that Venisee had not directly caused the deaths of Dawson and Davis.
