Wayne "Blacka" Linton Campbell, aged 36, tragically passed away on April 30, 2022, in Tamarac, Florida. Wayne was born on October 26, 1985, in Kingston, Jamaica, and migrated to the United States at a young age. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, before relocating to Florida, where he attended Boyd Anderson High School and later graduated from Barber School in Fort Lauderdale. Wayne was known for his love of sports, particularly NFL and NBA games, and his passion for playing video games on his PS5. He was a beloved member of his community, remembered for his willingness to help others and his dreams of establishing multiple businesses to secure a prosperous future for his children.

The circumstances surrounding Wayne Campbell's death were deeply troubling. On the night of his death, a violent altercation occurred, leading to a fatal shooting. The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) responded to reports of gunshots and a vehicle crash near the 6300 block of West Commercial Boulevard in Tamarac. Surveillance footage revealed that two vehicles were involved in a high-speed chase, during which more than 20 shots were fired. The chase ended with one of the vehicles crashing into a concrete wall, resulting in significant damage. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Wayne Campbell's lifeless body inside one of the vehicles. The occupants of the second vehicle fled the scene, prompting an extensive investigation by the BSO Homicide Unit.

In the aftermath of Wayne Campbell's death, the Broward Sheriff's Office released several surveillance videos in an effort to identify the suspects involved in the shooting. The footage captured two individuals fleeing the scene, described as males with slim and stocky builds, both wearing dark clothing. Despite the release of this evidence, the investigation faced challenges, and the suspects remained at large. The BSO Homicide Unit continued to seek the public's assistance in solving the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.

Wayne Campbell's death also intersected with legal proceedings. Prior to his death, Wayne had been involved in a criminal case filed by the State of Florida on March 2, 2022. The case, overseen by Judge Tim Bailey in the Broward County Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court, involved various charges, including an offense dated March 1, 2022. The case status was ultimately marked as "Disposed - Other Disposed," with several court documents and notices filed in the weeks leading up to Wayne's death. Notably, a certificate of death was filed on May 19, 2022, as part of the court records.

The tragic and violent nature of Wayne Campbell's death left a profound impact on his family, friends, and community. As the investigation continued, the Broward Sheriff's Office remained committed to bringing justice to Wayne and his loved ones, hoping to uncover the truth behind the events that led to his untimely demise.
