Darrell Lee Merricks Jr., a 30-year-old resident of Orlando, Florida, tragically passed away on October 21, 2022. His sudden death has left a profound void in the lives of his family and friends. Darrell is survived by his parents, Darrell Merricks Sr.
and Elizabeth Allen Merricks, his children, and numerous other family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
On the evening of October 21, 2022, Darrell was found shot in a car in Orlando. The circumstances surrounding his death were initially unclear, but it was later determined that his death was connected to a shooting incident in Eatonville earlier that day. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of gunfire on Samuel Street in Eatonville, where they discovered bullet casings but no immediate victims or witnesses. Later that evening, Orlando Police Department homicide detectives were contacted by their counterparts from the Orange County Sheriff's Office. They had discovered Darrell in a vehicle at the intersection of Princeton Street and Westmoreland Road, initially believing it to be a car crash. Upon closer inspection, they found that Darrell had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe that the vehicle Darrell was found in had been present at the Eatonville shooting scene earlier that day.
