Fred Oesterreich, a wealthy textile manufacturer, was found dead on August 22, 1922, in his Los Angeles home. The circumstances surrounding his death were both shocking and bizarre. Fred was shot three times during a heated argument with his wife, Walburga "Dolly" Oesterreich. The argument escalated to the point where Otto Sanhuber, Dolly's secret lover who had been living in the attic of their home for years, emerged with two .25 caliber pistols and fatally shot Fred.
