Detective Kelly Key III, a dedicated officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, tragically succumbed to injuries sustained in the line of duty. On June 1, 1970, while serving a search warrant on a narcotics suspect in Willowbrook, CA, Detective Key was shot by the suspect. The bullet, fired from a 7mm rifle, passed through the front door and struck Detective Key in the spinal cord, rendering him a quadriplegic.
