David Michael Hughes, a 9-year-old boy from Santa Cruz, California, tragically lost his life on January 25, 1973. His death was part of a horrific series of murders committed by Herbert Mullin, a notorious serial killer active in the early 1970s. Mullin, who had a history of mental illness, embarked on a killing spree that claimed the lives of 13 people in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.
