Bonner, an unemployed service station attendant, embarked on a violent rampage through the South Side area of Los Angeles, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and injuries to nine others. The spree began at Bonner's home following an argument with a family friend, Otha Leavitt.
Enraged, Bonner shot and killed Leavitt before hijacking her car and continuing his violent outburst across multiple locations.
