Raymond Lee Washington, the founder of the notorious Crips gang in Los Angeles, met a tragic end on August 9, 1979, at the age of 25. Washington's death was the result of a drive-by shooting that occurred around 10:00 p.m. on the corner of East 64th Street and South San Pedro Street in South Central Los Angeles.
