Ramon Irizarry Jr., a dedicated officer with the Oakland Police Department, tragically lost his life on January 18, 1983, after being shot in the head on January 11, 1983. Officer Irizarry was part of a team serving a search warrant at a house in West Oakland, suspected of being a hub for drug trafficking and fencing stolen goods. During the operation, he was shot at close range, resulting in severe injuries that left him clinically dead and on life support until his passing a week later.
