Kirk Leland Johnson, a 26-year-old patrolman with the San Diego Police Department, tragically lost his life on February 20, 1983. Johnson was on duty in his patrol car at around 1:30 a.m. in a deserted park in San Diego when he was ambushed and shot multiple times in the head and chest.
