On the evening of May 16, 2023, 49-year-old Ryan Abbott was fatally shot at Campland on the Bay, a popular RV resort in San Diego's Pacific Beach area. The incident occurred around 10:08 p.m. near the resort's pool area, where Abbott was with a small group. A brief verbal confrontation ensued between Abbott and another individual, later identified as 38-year-old Michael Callahan.
