Matao Herrera, an 11-year-old boy from San Ysidro, California, tragically lost his life on July 18, 1984, during what became known as the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre. On that fateful day, a gunman entered the McDonald's restaurant in San Ysidro and opened fire, killing 21 people and wounding 19 others.
