Thomas Joseph Keller, a 25-year-old police officer with the Torrance Police Department, tragically lost his life on April 17, 1986. Keller was responding to an armed robbery call at a sporting goods store in Torrance, California. The suspect, a 22-year-old illegal alien named Rafael Hernandez Navarro, had entered the store around 3:45 PM and displayed a handgun, causing workers and customers to flee and call the police.
