Reynold Johnson, aged 53, was tragically shot and killed on May 13, 1986, at his home in Hemet, California. The fatal shot, fired from a high-powered rifle, struck him in the chest. Witnesses reported seeing a stranger in military attire in the neighborhood around the time of the incident, but initially, the police were left without a clear motive or suspect.
