Anna Velasco, aged 42, was one of the victims in a tragic mass shooting that occurred on December 2, 1993, in Oxnard, California. The perpetrator, Alan Douglas Winterbourne, a 33-year-old computer analyst, carried out the attack as an act of revenge after a prolonged and unsuccessful job search. Winterbourne targeted state employees at the California Employment Development Department office, where Anna Velasco worked.
