On April 20, 2024, at approximately 3:35 a.m., El Monte police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3800 block of Penn Mar Avenue, near the intersections of Interstate 10 and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. Upon arrival, they discovered 42-year-old Stephanie Najera suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner later identified the victim as Stephanie Lily Najera, born
