In the autumn of 2016, the life of Tyrone Melvin Jr. Servance, a 44-year-old African-American male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of November 15th, in the 3000 block of Greenmount Avenue, Servance became the victim of a fatal shooting. His death was not a random act of violence but a calculated execution, a contract killing carried out by members of a local gang.
The investigation into Servance's murder revealed the cold and brutal operations of the 'Old York Money Gang' a group that engaged in drug distribution and murder for hire. Witnesses at trial would later testify that the gang accepted money for contract killings as part of their criminal enterprise. It was within this dark underworld that the fate of Tyrone Servance was sealed. Trevon Beasley, a leader within the OYMG, accepted the contract to end Servance's life and personally carried out the execution.
On that November day, Darrin Mosley drove Beasley to and from the location of the murder. The fallout from the killing was immediate and violent, sparking a street war between associates of Servance and the OYMG in the weeks that followed. This retaliation culminated in the attempted murder of two other individuals just weeks after Servance was killed.
Ultimately, justice for Tyrone Servance came in a federal courtroom. Trevon Beasley, also known as 'Tre,' was sentenced to life in federal prison for his role as the triggerman in the murder-for-hire plot. His accomplice, Darrin Mosley, known as 'Legs' and 'Scoop,' was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for his part in the crime. The sentencings marked the culmination of a thorough investigation that exposed the violent racketeering activities of the Old York Money Gang and brought a measure of closure to the family and friends of Tyrone Melvin Jr. Servance.
