William Francis "Bill" McLaughlin, a 55-year-old millionaire and medical innovator, was tragically murdered on December 15, 1994, in his Newport Beach, California home. McLaughlin, who had invented a device that separates plasma from blood, was found shot multiple times in his kitchen. The investigation revealed that he had been shot six times with a 9mm handgun, and the crime scene indicated a personal motive behind the killing, as nothing appeared to be stolen.
