Larry David Griffith, a 44-year-old Deputy Sheriff with the Lassen County Sheriff's Office, tragically lost his life on March 2, 1995. On that fateful day, Griffith responded to a domestic disturbance call at a ranch on County Road 502, located three miles east of Ravendale, California. As he exited his patrol car, the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding Griffith. The suspect, identified as Dennis Ervine, was a reputed survivalist who had a history of violent behavior.
