On March 11, 1995, 32-year-old Denise Maney was tragically murdered in the Palm Springs area of Riverside County, California. Andrew Urdiales, a former U.S. Marine, encountered Maney while on vacation from Illinois. He picked her up and drove to a secluded desert location. There, he forced her to disrobe, tied her hands behind her back, and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, Urdiales stabbed Maney multiple times in the chest and shot her once in the head, leaving her body in the desert.
