Hal Bierlein, aged 51, tragically lost his life on December 19, 1997, in Orange, California, during a violent incident at a state transportation maintenance yard. Bierlein was one of four victims in a shooting spree carried out by Arturo Reyes Torres, a disgruntled former employee of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
