Deputy Sheriff Eric Andrew Thach, aged 34, tragically lost his life on October 8, 1999, in Riverside, California. On that fateful day, Deputy Thach responded to a call regarding a suspicious open door at a residence in Pedley, a neighborhood in Riverside County. Upon arrival, he encountered a home invasion robbery in progress. As he approached the scene, he was ambushed and shot with a high-caliber semi-automatic rifle.
