Daryle Wayne Black, a 33-year-old police officer with the Long Beach Police Department, tragically lost his life on April 30, 2000, after being shot in the line of duty. Officer Black and his partner, Officer Rick Delfin, were patrolling a high-concentration gang area in Long Beach when they were ambushed by gunfire from an automatic weapon.
