Thomas Joel Steiner, a 35-year-old officer with the California Highway Patrol, tragically lost his life on April 21, 2004, in Pomona, California. Officer Steiner was shot and killed in an unprovoked attack while standing in front of the Pomona Courthouse. He had just finished testifying in five traffic citation-related cases and was walking across the street when the incident occurred.
