Hector Luis Sanchez Flores, a 39-year-old Latino man, was tragically killed on March 28, 2007, in East Hollywood, Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center located in the 5200 block of Sunset Boulevard. Flores was involved in a verbal altercation when a white car approached, and its occupants opened fire. He was shot in the head and chest and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 11:05 p.m.

On December 23, 2024, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge William C. Ryan vacated their convictions, and both individuals were released from prison.
