Daniel Sarinana Jr., a 32-year-old Latino man, was tragically shot and killed on April 6, 2014, in the Arlington Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The incident occurred around 2:53 a.m. on the 3200 block of West Washington Boulevard. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, officers were flagged down by a man who directed them to Sarinana, who was found on the sidewalk near a closed elementary school. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:20 a.m.
The investigation revealed that Sarinana was visiting friends in the area when he was confronted by a group of Hispanic men driving by in a white pickup truck. An argument ensued, and one of the suspects shot Sarinana multiple times. Despite attempting to flee, Sarinana collapsed on Washington Boulevard. The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Bureau Homicide Unit, led by Detective Steven Katz, indicated that the shooting might have been gang-related, although no official motive was established. Sarinana lived close to the location of the shooting, and it was unclear whether he had any gang affiliations.
The suspects, described as at least two Latino men, fled the scene in the white pickup truck with black trim on the bottom. Despite efforts by the LAPD to gather information, including urging anyone with details to contact the West Bureau Homicide Detectives or Crime Stoppers, no arrests were made immediately following the incident. The case remains under investigation, with detectives continuing to seek leads and information from the public to solve the murder of Daniel Sarinana Jr.
