Lessane's condition necessitated a transfer to a hospice facility for continued care. Despite the efforts of medical staff, his health continued to decline. On July 19, 2017, nearly seven weeks after he was found injured, Christopher Lessane succumbed to his injuries and passed away. His death, however, was not immediately classified as a homicide.
