Narcisa Adela Ramirez, a 41-year-old resident of Panorama City, Los Angeles, was tragically shot and killed on August 1, 2014. The incident occurred in the 8700 block of Tobias Avenue, where Ramirez lived with her family. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the fatal event unfolded shortly before 10 p.m. when Ramirez got into an argument with her common-law husband, Faustino Cipres.
Cipres, who had consumed several beers, escalated the altercation to a deadly level.
During the argument, Cipres called a friend, expressing suicidal intentions and threatening to kill Ramirez. The friend rushed to the apartment in an attempt to intervene but arrived to hear yelling and subsequent gunshots. Cipres fired three rounds from a sawed-off shotgun, fatally wounding Ramirez. In a desperate struggle, Ramirez’s daughter’s boyfriend managed to wrestle Cipres out of the apartment. However, Cipres then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide. Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:59 p.m.
The investigation revealed that there had been no prior police calls to the apartment, suggesting that this violent outburst was an unexpected escalation. The home was filled with family members at the time, including Ramirez's children and grandchildren, who witnessed the horrific event. The Los Angeles Police Department conducted a thorough investigation, but no further arrests were made as the primary suspect, Cipres, had taken his own life.
This tragic case highlights the devastating impact of domestic violence and the importance of intervention and support for those in volatile relationships. The community was left in shock, mourning the loss of Ramirez and grappling with the traumatic aftermath experienced by her surviving family members.
