John Patrick Dillard, aged 59, tragically died on October 25, 2014, in San Clemente, California, in what authorities have determined to be a murder-suicide. Dillard is believed to have fatally shot his wife, Cynthia Jean Rosier, aged 64, before turning the gun on himself. The incident occurred at Bliss Clothing Boutique, a women's clothing and gift store owned by Rosier, located on Avenida Del Mar in San Clemente.
