Jose Alfredo Rincon, a 28-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on January 4, 2015, in the Vermont Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. while Rincon was using a pay phone at a gas station located in the 9900 block of South Hoover Street. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Rincon was struck by multiple gunshots fired by an unknown assailant. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Rincon was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that it remains unclear whether the shooter was on foot or in a vehicle at the time of the attack.
The investigation into Rincon's murder has been challenging for law enforcement. The LAPD's Criminal Gang Homicide Division has been actively seeking information from the public to identify the perpetrator.
