Frank Serafin, a 24-year-old resident of Los Angeles, California, tragically lost his life on March 24, 2017. The incident occurred in the Sun Valley area of North Hollywood, specifically in the 7300 block of Hinds Avenue. According to reports, Serafin and a friend had returned to an apartment after visiting a liquor store. While they were hanging out, an unfortunate accident took place during the exchange of a handgun. The weapon discharged, striking Serafin and resulting in his death.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:21 p.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the incident and determined it to be a tragic accident. However, Alan Pineda, a 27-year-old Latino, was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Serafin's death. Pineda pleaded not guilty to the charges on March 28, 2017, and was scheduled to appear in court again on April 14, 2017. The case was handled by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, with Greg Risling serving as the spokesperson.
