Marquise Lawrence, a 26-year-old aspiring firefighter from Compton, California, was tragically shot and killed on March 18, 2015. Lawrence was driving east on Johnson Avenue around 5 p.m. when he was struck by gunfire from a dark-colored SUV at South Willowbrook Avenue. His vehicle subsequently rolled into the cement barriers for the Blue Line railroad tracks.
