The primary suspect in this tragic case was Jeanette's husband, James Daniel Fidler III, who was 25 years old at the time. Fidler turned himself in to the Riverside County Sheriff's Station in Palm Desert approximately 20 hours after the shooting. Fidler was initially booked on charges of attempted murder, domestic abuse, and four counts of child cruelty. However, following Jeanette's death, the charges were amended to include murder.
