Rowles was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:37 p.m., as confirmed by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Rowles was known in the community as "the street apostle" due to his efforts in helping children and defusing dangerous situations. He was a former gang member who had turned his life around and dedicated himself to community outreach through the Kids IV Life Youth Center.
