The circumstances surrounding Adam Wrangham's death were deeply troubling. On November 23, 2015, Adam was fatally shot during a home invasion robbery at his residence on Lucky John Road in Paradise. The incident was linked to a marijuana cultivation operation, with the robbers allegedly targeting Adam for the large quantity of marijuana he possessed. The robbers stole hundreds of pounds of marijuana during the invasion. Adam was shot in the chest and succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Joshua Bush, 29, of Concow, was identified as the person who shot Adam. Bush was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for his role in the murder. Other individuals involved included Warwick Dinning, 40, who received a 19-year prison sentence, and Renae Disney, 51, and Thomas Thornhill, 39, who were each sentenced to nine years in prison. Jeffrey Stringer, 62, was also sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement in the robbery and death of Adam Wrangham.
