Gerrik Mykul Thomas, a 21-year-old man from Los Angeles, was tragically shot and killed on January 25, 2016. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of West 54th Street and 9th Avenue in the Hyde Park neighborhood. According to reports, Thomas was standing on the southwest corner of the intersection when a sedan pulled up. A person exited the vehicle, approached Thomas, and opened fire.
